“Beg your pardon. Forgot to knock.”

James Bond (Pierce Brosnan)

A man runs along the dam, holds on tightly and jumps off the top of the structure, using a rubber band.

That man is James Bond (Pierce Brosnan), on a mission to infiltrate a chemical weapons factory in the USSR. He will be helped by his colleague Alec Trevelyan (Sean Bean), Agent 006. But the latter is killed by the Russians. At least that’s what 007 thinks.

Since the famous angel jump, the Verzasca Dam has been a regular venue for bungee jumpers, in honour of the famous sequence. A performance that was voted “best movie stunt of all time” in a Sky Movies poll in 2002.

The budget for GoldenEye was $58 million.

Verzasca Dam

The Verzasca Dam, also called the Contra Dam, was built between 1961 and 1965. It is the fourth highest dam in Switzerland.

The Verzasca Dam is a thin-arch concrete dam with a height of 220 m and a crest length of 380 m.

It feeds a 105 MW hydroelectric power plant that contains three 35 MW Francis turbines and generates an average of 234 GWh per year.

Since the movie GoldenEye, many enthusiasts come to make a bungee jump with the specialized company Trekking Team, reproducing the opening scene.
