Serge decides to organize a party by inviting Gauthier and Francesca. He goes, with Gauthier, to the U express supermarket in Ars-en-Ré, to do the shopping. After a debate on the choice of cheese, the two friends go to the cashier to pay for their purchase. It is then that Serge notices that Gauthier is on the front page of Télé Poche for the prime time broadcast of an episode of Doctor Morange. Serge then proposes to watch the episode the same evening.
The particularity of Bicycling with Molière is that it is composed of several rehearsal scenes. Lambert Wilson, being a man of the theater, had to pretend to progress through the scenes: “At the beginning, when he and Serge are working on scene 1 of Act 1, Gauthier is not in the text, he has an anecdotal vision of the play. He wants to modernize it and he is perfectly ridiculous, as if a musician claimed to play Mozart without playing all the notes! It was necessary to calculate his clumsiness.”
