The tunnel comes back twice in the film. Once to go to the dancing magic of mermaids, another for an epic battle.

“Manure. I hate manure!”

Biff Tannen (Thomas F. Wilson)

On his way to the dancing magic of mermaids, Biff Tannen uses this tunnel. He doesn’t know for a moment that Marty (Michael J. Fox) is in the back of his car, patiently waiting for an opportunity to steal the almanac from him.

Although the young man managed to steal the book, he had it taken up quickly, and had to try again to get it.

Doc (Christopher Lloyd) drops him off in DeLorean before waiting any further.

So it is in hoverboard that Marty, with the utmost discretion, gets closer to his goal. But very quickly, Biff spots him.

An epic battle ensues in which Marty repeatedly tries to catch the almanac in flight. When he succeeds, Biff tries to overthrow him, Marty is saved in extremis by Doc.

For Biff it ends, once again, in the manure.

This is the second time that Robert Zemeckis has come to this tunnel to shoot one of his films. The first being Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
