Studio Kinoscope
Paramount is the second oldest studio in Hollywood. It’s also the one with the infrastructure in downtown Los Angeles, not on the outskirts like Warner’s or Universal’s.
Since the 1920s, Paramount has produced thousands of films and series such as The Godfather, Chinatown and Babylon. Damien Chazelle’s feature film focuses on the peregrinations of two actors and an assistant during the delicate transition from silent to talkies.
A mythical place
It was inside Paramount Studios on Melrose Avenue that Damien Chazelle shot many of the interior sequences of his film. However, Paramount also offered its famous double arch as the main entrance. For the occasion, it has been slightly modified.
The name Paramount was replaced by Kinoscope at the conclusion of the film, when Manny Torres (Diego Calva), years after the golden age of the silent film, goes to the front of the studios, accompanied by his wife and children.
A legendary entrance
The double arch of Paramount Studios has often appeared on the screen, in works such as Hitchcock, the biopic carried by Anthony Hopkins’ performance. Series such as Californication have also used the studio sheds as a set.
The studio of legendary producer Robert Evans, Paramount played a major role in the history of the New Hollywood. Now open to the public, like Universal and Warner Studios, it has a prominent place in Babylon .
Tobey Maguire has two jobs on Babylon: actor and executive producer.
Paramount Studios Bronson Gate
Located in downtown Los Angeles, on Melrose Avenue, the Paramount studio is one of the greatest institutions of American cinema.
Second oldest film studio behind Universal, Paramount was inaugurated in 1926. It includes 29 film sets, with ten large hangars dating from the silent film era. Some parts consist of reconstructions of the streets of cities like New York and Chicago. It has hosted productions such as The Ten Commandments, Forrest Gump, The Godfather, Citizen Kane and Chinatown. It adjoins the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, where stars such as Rudolph Valentino, Mel Blanc, Cecil B. DeMille and Douglas Fairbanks are buried. Like Universal and Warner Studios, it is open for tours.
