Seoul Trade Tower

It’s impossible to miss the eccentric Psy. The very pop melody, the rhythmic lyrics and the colorful video are all elements that have contributed to the worldwide success of Gangnam Style. And if for many the verses of the South Korean artist seem to have no meaning, it is not so.
Not so crazy the Gangnam
The Gangnam area sung so loudly by the “hurluber” is the most popular district of Seoul, like the 16th arrondissement in Paris. Where the companies of the Land of the Morning Calm negotiate their biggest contracts, where the wealthiest people do their shopping or where, in a completely different register, aggressions towards women in discotheques are the most common. This “Gangnam system” is evoked in the song, in a humorous and parodic form, but it has aroused the interest of many groups.
Seoul bets on the right horse
For the rest of the world, the ubiquitous dance, the appearances of South Korean stars or the different views of Seoul have increased tourism in the capital. Not wishing to miss the phenomenon, the authorities were keen to install in 2015 a monument to the glory of this burlesque but important piece for the economy of the country. When the time came to choose a location for the sculpture, the choice was quickly made. This one is installed in the Gangnam district, a few steps away from the Seoul Trade Tower, the one in front of which Psy dances twice in his video.
Psy and his choreographer spent more than thirty nights working on the dance on the dance of the clip.
Trade Tower
Part of Seoul’s World Trade Center, the Trade Tower was built in 1988 to help South Korea become an international trading power.
Consisting of 54 floors, the amazing structure stands 228 meters high and is on the list of the country’s tallest buildings. On the 52nd floor, the Marco Polo panoramic restaurant offers visitors a breathtaking view of the capital. The other levels are occupied by various companies as well as the Korea International Trade Association. The latter acts as an advisor for overseas development or arbitration of trade disputes.
