The scene of John Wick 4 shot in the church of Saint-Eustache in Paris is among the most impressive. However, this one is relatively quiet. It sees John Wick (Keanu Reeves) and his friend but also adversary Caine (Donnie Yen) talking. The opportunity for John Wick to evoke the memory of his late wife.
A national treasure
A landmark monument in Paris, the Saint-Eustache church is famous for its Gothic architecture. A place that the teams of John Wick 4 in charge of the location scouting quickly retained in order to situate a particularly important scene of the film.
Chad Stahelski has managed to capture the beauty of the church with an ample staging. The arrival of John Wick and his progression in the central alley is enough to make the church of Saint-Eustache one of the most spectacular settings of John Wick 4.
A character under the influence
Chad Stahelski became a director after working as a stuntman and stunt coordinator on films such as Matrix, Ghosts of Mars, Serenity and V for Vendetta. He is also infamous for having doubled Brandon Lee after his accidental death on the set of The Crow.
At the helm of the John Wick saga since its inception, the filmmaker spoke to SFR Actus about the creation of the John Wick character: “We wanted something different and Keanu Reeves brought us a lot. The haircut, the wardrobe… We wanted a classic costume, but the way Keanu Reeves wears it makes the difference. The same is true of his beard. He has an old-fashioned side, with his politeness, his manners, the respect he shows to others. I don’t think any other character looks like him, although he is also inspired by several characters. But in the end, John Wick has a lot in common with Keanu Reeves.“

Saint-Eustache Church
101 years were needed to build the Saint-Eustache church in Paris. A historical monument combining Gothic and Renaissance architectural styles.
Dedicated to Saint Eustache de Macon, a Roman general who converted to Christianity, this church was built in 1633. Located in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, it has been restored several times and serves as an essential historical monument. Theater of the baptisms of Madame de Pompadour, Richelieu and Molière, it also hosted the first communion of Louis XIV. Marivaux, Colbert and even Rameau are buried there. She received the events usually organized at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris during the works of the latter following the fire of April 2019.
