The last minutes of the final episode of The Last of Us season 1 take place in the wilderness. The winding road on which Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) drive, through the pines with the snow-capped mountains in the background, is actually the Kananaskis Lakes Trail in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park.
The Entering Wyoming sign has been temporarily planted along Highway 40, not far from the Wedge Pond parking lot. A clever assembly of places recreating on screen the road to Jackson, where the characters pass through, with a heavy heart.
Two actors in adequacy
Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey carry the first season of The Last of Us on their shoulders. Pedro Pascal did not fail to underline the talent of his young partner: “Bella Ramsey plays Ellie. I call her ‘Bellie’, and she’s my blessing. It was just a match made in heaven and I love her.“To which Bella Ramsey responded, “Our relationship has definitely developed as Joel and Ellie’s has. We’re good buddies.” Their chemistry is visible on the screen.
The Last of Us season 1 finale was seen by 8.1 million viewers during its first broadcast in the United States.
Kananaskis Lakes
This spectacular drive is located in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park and provides access to lakes such as Lower Kananaskis lake and Upper Kananaskis lake.
Very popular with hikers, this unspoiled region offers many trails. However, the Alberta region also uses the Kananaskis Lakes to generate electricity. Peter Lougheed Provincial Park is also an important source of drinking water for residents of the Calgary area.
