If Rink-O-Mania doesn’t exist under this name in reality, it is possible to imitate Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Will (Noah Schnapp) and Mike (Finn Wolfhard) on the roller rink while listening to hits from the 1980s. All you have to do is push open the doors of the Roller King in Albuquerque, which the Stranger Things production completely renovated, much to the delight of its owners, and the needs of the story.
Once entirely centered in Georgia, around Atlanta, Stranger Things production is moving to New Mexico for Season 4. Supposed to take place in California, this one pushes the Duffer brothers to operate Netflix’s infrastructure in Albuquerque. In an effort to keep travel to a minimum, they chose the Roller King Room because it was next door to the high school where Will and Eleven attended and not far from the Byers family’s new home. With carte blanche to take on the expenses of renovating the hall, the Duffer brothers commissioned the artisans to completely remodel the Roller King. A Rink-O-Mania sign is placed on the façade and the result is more real than life. And for good reason, because here, everything is authentic! Including the outfits and hairstyles of the characters. To the great displeasure of Noah Schnapp moreover so much this one has not ceased since the first season to ask the producers to get rid of his character of this bowl cut which he hates so much. A request that has remained unanswered for the moment.
6 months separate the conclusion of Stranger Things season 3 from the beginning of season 4.
Skate-O-Mania
An unmissable meeting place for teenagers and roller-skating lovers in the Albuquerque region, this roller-skating track took advantage of the filming of a famous series to get a makeover.
Located at the east end of Albuquerque, this room dedicated to the practice of rollerblading was invested for several weeks by the teams of the Netflix series Stranger Things. The latter having signed a contract with the owners to completely redo the place. A renovation having benefited the place, now open again to rollerblading aficionados. Several evenings and other special events are regularly organized.
