Red Keep Gardens
Already used extensively for the filming of the eight seasons of Game of Thrones, Spain also hosted the production teams for the first season of the spin-off House of the Dragon. Hired as director of episode 2, Greg Yaitanes went to Lloret del Mar with his actors, Paddy Considine, Eve Best and Steve Toussaint, to shoot the meeting of King Viserys Targaryen and the couple composed of Lord Corlys Velaryon and Rhaenys Targaryen. The scene takes place at the top of the gardens of Santa Clotilde, where it is possible to admire one of the most famous views of the Mediterranean Sea of the whole Costa Brava.
Gardens tailored to your needs
Preserved since their construction in 1919, the gardens offer the possibility for film crews not to modify the site. The locations are later visible when Viserys Targaryen walks with Laena Velaryon (Savannah Steyn). A place out of time, next to the Red Keep of King’s Landing, which is reconstructed in computer graphics from the models established in Game of Thrones.
Each episode of House of the Dragon had an average budget of $20 million.
Jardins de Santa Clotilde
These beautiful gardens cover over 16 hectares and offer panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea.
Commissioned by the Marquis of Roviralta in 1919, the gardens of Santa Clotilde took the place of vineyards. Designed by landscaper and architect Nicolau Maria Rubio i Tuduri, they are made up of several species such as pines, lime trees, poplars and cypresses. They are decorated with several statues including those of two mermaids. The Santa Clotilde Gardens are open to visitors from Monday to Sunday. It is one of the most beautiful places on the Costa Brava.
