Pickle Diner
The Pickle Diner is not only Bunny Folger’s (Jayne Houdyshell) favorite restaurant, but also that of many Arconia residents. Oliver (Martin Short) comes there to buy some “dips” of which he is particularly fond. Later, viewers also learn about a certain sandwich that may be of vital importance in the case of the murder of the trustee’s president.
Located in reality far from The Belnord aka the Arconia, but still on 86th Street, the Pickle Diner is actually called The Mansion. This restaurant is no stranger to TV show fans as the establishment also appears in Gossip Girl and Odd Mom Out. The founder’s grandson, John G. Philips, agreed to rent his restaurant for the show, already used to the exercise. A few logos of the fictitious Pickle Diner were affixed to the windows and the storefront to create the illusion.
Only Murders in the Building quickly became the most watched comedy of all time on Hulu.
The Mansion
Founded in 1945 by Cypriot immigrant John Philips, The Mansion is a restaurant named for its proximity to Garcie Mansion, the home of New York’s mayor.
Now run by John Philips’ grandson, John G. Philips, The Mansion was modernized in 2006 while retaining the authenticity of the place and the food served.
On the menu, cheeseburgers, nuggets, eggs “at the mansion”, pancakes, omelets and many other delicious dishes to be enjoyed on the spot or to take away.
