Parvis du Sacré-Cœur
If several scenes of John Wick 4 supposed to take place in Paris were actually shot in Berlin, in the comfort of imposing studios, the duel sequence, in which John Wuck (Keanu Reeves) confronts Caine (Donnie Yen), did take place on the parvis du Sacré-Coeur in Paris.
A deadly conclusion
Director Chad Stahelski’s teams set up a table and a sort of stage dedicated to the duel between John Wick and Caine. A scene told by Chad Stahelski to the microphone of SFR News : “We pleaded a lot with the Sacré-Cœur itself, as well as Paris. Luckily, everyone was very nice and let us do it. At least for a while…” The shooting of the conclusion of John Wick 4 took 6 days.
An American in Paris
Very appreciated, preceded by a reputation of the nicest actor of Hollywood, Keanu Reeves lent himself to the game of questions and answers with many French media during the promotion of the film. The opportunity for him to express his love for Paris: “I have a very nice fight scene in the stairs of Montmartre and we shot some beautiful scenes in front of the Sacré-Cœur. We also have a scene that takes place at the Trocadero as well. I went to the Canal Saint-Martin. It’s cool and unexpected. But I think Sacré-Cœur is my favorite place.“
John Wick 4 immediately took first place at the French box office on the day of its release, accumulating 70,775 admissions, more than the three previous installments.
Parvis du Sacré-Cœur
Completed in 1923, the Sacré-Coeur basilica in Paris sits atop the Montmartre hill and offers a magnificent view of the capital.
Built on a place already reserved for worship, formerly frequented by the Gauls but also by the Romans, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart is a marvelous example of eclectic architecture, with powerful Romano-Byzantine accents. As remarkable on the outside as on the inside, it adjoins Place du Tertre. It also houses large organs by Aristide Cavaille-Coll and several remarkable statues. The building brings together several chapels. The bell of its campanile is the largest in France. Cast in Annecy in 1895 by the Paccard brothers, it weighs 18,835 kg and is 3 meters in diameter.
