Shot between Marseille, Martigues and La Rochelle, Voir le Jour made a stop near the Old Port. A place that the director Marion Laine has nevertheless filmed discreetly, not wishing to fall into postcard clichés. It is only through a few clues such as the carousel, that the place is revealed on the screen.
Sandrine Bonnaire could share the poster with Alice Botté. The latter appeared in only two films, namely La Lutte des classes and Voir le jour. A professional musician, he is known as CharlÉlie Couture’s regular guitarist and has also collaborated with Jacques Higelin, Hubert-Félix Thiéfaine, Tom Novembre, and Jakie Quartz. He released his solo album, titled 1, in 2019. Like Jimi Hendrix, he plays left-handed on a Fender Stratocaster guitar.
On the subject of the shooting of Voir le jour, Marion Laine came back on the shooting in the maternity, to the micro of the site Allociné : “The atmosphere in the hospital is not exactly the same as in the maternity ward, which is more cheerful despite all the difficulties. I also went on location to get a feel for it. And I relied heavily on Julie Bonnie’s book for this whole part. As Julie likes to describe it, this job is also about “feeling breasts” all day long to show mothers how to breastfeed.“
The musician Alice Botté, the interpreter of the character of Abel, has only played in two films, namely La Lutte des classes and Voir le jour.
Vieux-Port
Regrouping several structures, the port of La Rochelle is an essential element of the economic network of Charente-Maritime.
The port of La Rochelle includes the autonomous port, the submarine base, created during the occupation, the fishing port of Chef de Baie and the marina. It is within this last one that are grouped the Old-Port, the port of Minimes and the Port-Neuf. The Old Port is undoubtedly the most touristic part, with its vestiges like the Chain Tower and the Saint-Nicolas Tower. Two monuments integrated into the city’s fortifications. The port has evolved considerably, without losing its identity. Every year, it attracts thousands of tourists as well as several cultural and sporting events.
