“- Professor?

– Miss Tokyo.

– What is our target?

– The National Coinage and Stamp Factory.”

Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó) and The Professor (Álvaro Morte)

With the assistance of a gang of criminals answering to the names of cities, The Professor organizes an incredible robbery. The plan, perfectly worked out, is to have robbers enter the National Coinage and Stamp Factory and exit in a very short time with tons of specially made banknotes.

Salvador Dali mask

An almost perfect scenario, but one that didn’t quite take into account the human factor. What goes on inside the building is constantly undermined by an overzealous manager, a desperate hostage or a robber on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

But if in Money Heist the building is home to incredible presses printing the precious denominations, it is quite different in reality. The building houses the Higher Council for Scientific Research of Madrid. In order not to disturb the employees of the site, the crew of the series shot the outdoor scenes in the evening and on Sundays.

1994

For the character of Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó), the creator of the series, Álex Pina, was strongly inspired by a well-known character in pop culture, Mathilda in the 1994 film Leon .
