Hen Mountain appears on the screen just before the characters arrive at the Evermoors’ cemetery. An important scene shot in Northern Ireland, not far from the Titanic Belfast Studios, where the production has its headquarters.
A film under the influence
Jonathan Goldstein, one of the two directors, along with John Francis Daley, told The Mary Sue: “Our biggest hope is that this movie falls into sort of the pantheon of the movies that inspired us when we were making it, Spielberg movies like Jurassic Park and ET and Indiana Jones. And just fun, Monty Python and Princess Bride. The kinds of comedies that you don’t see too often that combine kind of the silly with the smart. And we set out to make a movie that would appeal to both fans and non-fans of the game that is just an adventure with some great laughs and some heart and a great way to just take two hours and forget your problems and lose yourself in a fantasy adventure.”
In the shadow of legends
The graveyard scene sees Chris Pine’s character Edgin talking to dead people. Originally, the directors wanted to hire Monty Python to dub the corpses in question. John Francis Daley explained in the site cbr : “Our original idea was to have the Monty Python guys lend their voices to the corpses, but for several reasons it didn’t work out.“The director said that the budget did not allow for the enlistment of the stars of British humor and that it was in any case very regrettable, due to the death of Graham Chapman and Terry Jones, not to be able to count on the full cast.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves got off to a strong start in the U.S. with a $15,222,358 opening day.
