“Qui me dérange dans ma sieste quotidienne ? Que cherches-tu en notre belle Vienne ? Dis-le ! Dis-le, dis ton vœu ! Et le Guerliguet fera que tu l’obtiennes.”

Le Guerliguet (Jean-Yves Tual)

Out of breath, Tom (Jean-Philippe Bèche) enters the Moulière forest and leans against a tree. Enraged at potentially missing his own wedding, he hits the trunk. He has no idea that at this moment he will unleash a supernatural force.

The Guerliguet appears before his eyes. This strange talking tree guesses what is going on and gives him a magic mushroom that will allow the future groom to cross the Vienne and discover its wonders.

Although the Moulière forest is explicitly indicated as the location of the action by means of a sign, it is not. The scene was shot in a wood located in Nouaillé-Maupertuis.

A small accident occurred during the shooting. While clearing a dead tree, one of the technicians was injured by a chainsaw. He was rushed to hospital, but fortunately all ended well. A little later, the director Olivier Chavarot asked about his condition but the machino reassured him that he had been very well received and looked after.

The composer of the film’s score, Alexandre Desplat, has had a prolific career since then. He has won two Oscars for The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Shape of Water, three Césars, two BAFTA Awards, two Golden Globes and two Grammy Awards.

Forêt de Moulière

With its 6,900 hectares, the Forêt de Moulière is the green lung of the Vienne department.

The Forêt de Moulière is partly managed by the Office National des Forêts and partly by private owners. The 4,200 hectares of this public forest are particularly popular with walkers in all seasons.

The other 2.700 belong to private owners. Classified as a nature reserve, it is advisable for people to replant a tree in case of felling.

Rich of an impressive biodiversity, the forest takes its name from an old industry of extraction of millstones, millstones, perpetuated on its ground during several centuries. Many walks are indicated in this incredible green space.
