“Le Chiffre arrived yesterday and spend the time reestablishing old relationships. The Chief of Police and he are now quite close. He’s sitting over my left shoulder.”

René Mathis (Giancarlo Giannini)

Arriving in Montenegro for the nearby No Limit poker game, James Bond and Vesper Lynd make contact with Rene Mathis. He explains that Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen) has bribed the local police chief.

But Mathis has a plan. He had his own men arrest the officer after providing evidence, fabricated, of a bribe. One problem solved.

For the anecdote, the chief of police is played by Michael G. Wilson, producer of the James Bond saga, used to cameos in 007’s feature films.

The sequence was not shot in Montenegro, but in the Czech Republic, in the small town of Loket.

The beautiful Aston Martin we see at the beginning of the scene will be destroyed later in an impressive car accident. The stuntmen also set a new record with this sequence by rolling over seven times.
