The Lockwood Mansion becomes the main location for the filming of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom after the destruction of Isla Nublar by a terrible volcanic eruption. Rather than looking for a place already built, Juan Antonio Bayona prefers to proceed with an ambitious assembly to build his own mansion. Nevertheless, the building has real parts. Plans for Cragside, a Victorian country house near Rothbury in Northumberland, England, are used. From this starting point, the studio’s craftsmen built the entire facade of the mansion on land usually reserved for military training at Hawley Common, just outside Minley, a small village in Hampshire.
For all the interior sequences, the actors go to Pinewood Studios near London. It is there that sets such as the underground room where the auction takes place, Dr. Wu’s laboratory, the control room and the rooms of Maisie (Isabella Sermon) and of Lockwood himself (James Cromwell) are created. An entire section of the roof, with the massive canopy, is also built in Pinewood.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is the second film in the saga with music composed by Michael Giacchino.
National Trust - Cragside
Built between 1869 and 1895, this superb Tudor Revival Victorian country house was first inhabited by William George Armstrong.
Cragside is famous for being the first house in the world to benefit from hydroelectric lighting. It was then surrounded by dams and lakes supposed to supply various sophisticated machines such as a sawmill, dishwashers, dumbwaiters and even a hydraulic lift. Cragside is now part of the National Trust and remains one of Northumberland’s most notable landmarks.
