Kissing you already, from one!”

Nick (Adam Sandler) and Audrey Spitz (Jennifer Aniston)

At one point in Murder Mystery 2, Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler express a desire to hang a padlock on the Pont des Amours in Paris. This bridge, the couple does not miss to visit it at the end of their adventure in the French capital. The whole scene was shot above the Seine, on the Léopold-Sédar-Senghor footbridge.

A disappearing tradition

For several years now, the city of Paris has been hunting for love locks on several bridges in the city. At the time of the filming of Murder Mystery 2, the Léopold-Sédar-Senghor footbridge had not yet been properly cleaned.

So director Jeremy Garelick was able to film Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aninston illustrating their love by hanging a padlock on the building’s railing. A balustrade quickly replaced after the shooting, by a plexiglass model.

A very expensive padlock

If the municipality of Paris decided to put the holà concerning the padlocks of love, it is quite simply that these last ones put in danger the integrity of the various bridges on which they were hung by the tourists.

Already in 2016, 65 tons of padlocks had been removed from bridges such as the Pont des Arts and the Pont de l’Archevêché. In 2017, the city hall had organized an auction to donate the profits of the operation to associations dedicated to the aid and reception of refugees. There is a good chance that the lock that Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston hang in Murder Mystery 2 will also be put on sale one day, among several hundred others.

Passerelle Léopold-Sédar-Senghor

This pedestrian bridge has a length of 106 meters. It connects the port of Solférino to that of the Tuileries.

Located between the 7th and 1st arrondissements of Paris, this bridge exclusively reserved for pedestrians and bicycles took the place of two footbridges respectively destroyed in 1961 and 1992. Designed by the architect Marc Mimram, the footbridge was inaugurated on December 14, 1999. Quickly, it is covered with padlocks placed by lovers, like other footbridges of the Seine. Padlocks removed in 2022 due to the danger they represented for the structure of the bridge.
