“- Hello sweetheart

– Hello Guillaume

– How beautiful you are my soul

– When you say my soul, you mean my body

– Exactly, sweetheart. If I wasn’t so in love with you, I’d be jealous. But I love you and that makes me proud and envious because I always want you

– Deep down, I inspire nothing but bad feelings in you.”

Guillaume Lancien (Jacques Riberolles) and Delphine Garnier (Catherine Deneuve)

It is in the Lancien gallery, that Guillaume (Jacques Riberolles), a painter with a pistol in love with Delphine (Catherine Deneuve), sells contemporary art paintings. In the film, this place houses works around Pop-Art and Op Art. Jacques Demy, a lover of modern art, had a portrait of Delphine made in the manner of Bernard Buffet, as well as a Mobile by Calder.

It will be difficult for fans of the film to recognize the front of the Lancien Gallery since it is currently replaced by a store with no connection to art. The avenue is located near the National Museum of the Navy and the Archaeological Museum of the Old Parish.

In the parallel street, avenue Charles-de-Gaulle, was Le grand Bacha, a hotel-restaurant discovered by Jacques Demy and his companion Agnès Varda during scouting. They are mesmerized by the pink and lilac colors of the old woodwork just repainted. The director chose this place as a “canteen” during the shooting for about 150 people. To thank Guy Berthaud, the owner, and his teams, Bernard Evein, the film’s chief decorator, designed a large wooden frame with the effigy of Les Demoiselles de Rochefort hanging from the ceiling. Today the place of conviviality does not exist anymore.

72 Av. la Fayette

72 avenue de la Fayette is located in a wide artery of the city of Rochefort-sur-Mer.

In the 17th century, the avenue La Fayette divided the city in two from east to west.

The widest artery of the city, it is located not far from the National Museum of the Navy, the workshops of the Hermione and its arsenal along the Charente, and the Archaeological Museum of the Old Parish.
