“Can I stand here? Am I not bothering you too much?”

Alexandre (Bernard Ménez)

After a girls’ night out, which almost became an all-nighter, Geneviève (Isabelle Ganz) proposes to Annie (Annie Colé) to go swimming the next day. Annie is reluctant, especially with a two-piece swimsuit, but finally the two friends go there.

Alexandre (Bernard Ménez) is also present. He takes advantage of it to make his advances to Annie, under the eyes of Geneviève, not really delighted by this approach. Finally, Geneviève leaves, furious.

This shooting has remained engraved in Bernard Ménez’s memory. In the middle of “deep France”, the actor was amused by the way the locals said what they thought without a filter. One of his favorite sequences was this one at the lake. In 2014, the actor had confided in the Nouvelle République saying he regretted not having had the opportunity to return.

It is no coincidence that many of the scenes in the film, including Annie’s house, were filmed near Moncontour. The director Pascal Thomas is a native of Saint-Chartres, attached to the town of Moncontour. The opportunity for the filmmaker to visit his native land and to shoot in his “studio of Saint-Chartres”, his family residence.
