“If I win… I’ll bring your head to Cersei.”
Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbæk)
In an effort to save money, despite an extremely comfortable budget, the Game of Thrones team reused several locations during the production of the eight seasons. Thus, the Cushendun Caves, where the demonic birth of Melisandre (Carice van Houten) was filmed, was used as a backdrop for the confrontation between Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbæk) in the fifth episode of season 8.

Very conveniently located on the coast, Cushendun Cave is also close to Belfast and Titanic Studios, where the production is based. A particularly important place in season 8. The director only had to change the lighting and the angle of the shot compared to the sequence with Melisandre to give the caves a different patina. Sounds of destruction and CGI of collapsing buildings in the background were then added in post-production.
The character of Euron Greyjoy appears in 9 episodes of the series.
Cushendun Caves
Located in County Antrim in Northern Ireland, these caves gained worldwide notoriety thanks to the Game of Thrones series.
Very accessible, near the village of Cushendun, these caves border the beach and do not require any authorization to visit. Consisting of several cavities, one of which is very large, the site is nevertheless subject to the vagaries of the climate. The water entering the caves at the sandstone of the tides. They were formed by erosion. Their walls with irregular contours are inhabited by small molluscs. These cavities reveal almost all their mysteries on a clear day, when the light penetrates to the bottom and chases away the most disturbing shadows.
