Jurassic World Evacuation
The shooting of Jurassic World is located in New Orleans after a session of several weeks in Hawaii, where the three Jurassic Park movies were already produced. In town, the team operates Louis Armstrong International Airport, Six Flags Amusement Park and the Audubon Zoo. In activity, the establishment imposes to the director Colin Trevorrow precise schedules in order not to disturb the visitors.
It is in the Audubon Zoo that Colin Trevorrow orchestrates part of the evacuation of Jurassic World, when the indominus rex manages to escape. The zoo is used for outdoor shots. As is often the case, these are produced from studios.
The Jurassic Word project is launched by Steven Spielberg. Nevertheless, the director of the first and second Jurassic Park does not intend to do it himself. He decided to contact Joe Johnston, the director of Jurassic Park 3. The latter begins to imagine a plot in which Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) are sent to Costa Rica to prevent an ecological disaster. The year is 2001. Delayed by the departure of screenwriter William Monahan, the film underwent several changes. Taken by the shooting of Captain America: First Avenger, Joe Johnston is finally replaced by Colin Trevorrow. For the director, whose first blockbuster, the original characters should not make a comeback. Only B.D. Wong, the interpreter of Henry Wu, one of the main scientists of the story, is present while the film pays tribute to Richard Attenborough with a statue displayed in the new park. Colin Trevorrow, in agreement with Steven Spielberg, considers from the beginning that Jurassic World is the direct continuation of Jurassic Park. He does not wish to allude to Jurassic Park: The Lost World and Jurassic Park 3.
Jurassic World is the first film in the Jurassic Park saga with music composed by Michael Giacchino.
Audubon Zoo
Opened in 1914, this zoo is home to more than 2,000 animals and is part of Audubon Park, on the banks of the Mississippi River.
Although it only opened in 1914, this zoo took place on a site dedicated to the exhibition of animals since 1884 and the universal exhibition of the world cotton centenary. Integrated into the Audubon Nature Institute, it offers its visitors many activities. It is named after naturalist artist John James Abudon, one of New Orleans’ most illustrious residents.
