“And I’ve got something to get him there. If can be trusted to look after it.”

Q (Desmond Llewelyn)

The provenance of a very rare orchid from the Amazon leads James Bond on the trail of Hugo Drax near Iguazu Falls, those immense Brazilian and Argentinean waterfalls.

Equipped with a boat improved by Q, Bond goes up the river until he is interrupted by henchmen from Drax and Jaws (Richard Kiel).

James Bond manages to escape from them but, to Q’s dismay, the ship does not return safely to port. Agent 007 used the hang glider option before allowing the craft to rush into the falls.

A destiny that also awaits Jaws who, as usual, will come out unscathed.

34

The budget for this film was $34 million. This amount alone exceeds the sum of all the amounts allocated to the other opuses.

Iguazu Falls

The huge Iguazu Falls, the border between Argentina and Brazil, are a very popular tourist attraction, at the center of a special legend.

Together, these falls form the largest waterfall in the world, the highest being 82 meters.

According to legend, a deity planned to marry a woman named Naipí. The latter having run away with her lover Tarobá in a canoe on the river, the deity, in a mad rage, cut the river and created Iguazu Falls, thus condemning the lovers to an eternal fall.

Eleanor Roosevelt, former First Lady and wife of the 32nd President of the United States, would have exclaimed “Poor Niagara” (“Poor Niagara”) upon seeing the spectacle of the falls. Indeed, with a maximum height of 50 meters, Niagara Falls looks tiny by their side.
