House of the Undying
Emilia Clarke, the interpreter of Daenerys Targaryen, travels to Dubrovnik, where the production has recreated King’s Landing. Nevertheless, for this time, the city is used to film a scene that is supposed to take place in Qarth, where Daenerys Targaryen had her dragons stolen. The House of the Undying is located in the Minceta Tower, a perfectly preserved 15th century monument.
On the screen, the House of the Undying consists of a huge tower. The building is thus much larger than the Minceta Tower. The latter having been used for the close-up shots while computer-generated images have allowed to give birth to the construction for the wide shots.
A key building of the Dubrovnik city walls, the Minceta Tower is today a popular historical monument for tourists.
Telling a part of the history of the city of Dubrovnik, this building was once designed to counter potential Turkish attacks. With its rounded shape and remarkable state of preservation, it is one of the most famous remains of the 15th century. Climbing to the top of the hill gives you one of the most spectacular views of the city and the Adriatic Sea.
