House of Malcolm Crowe
Night Shyamalan moved to the United States with his parents and sister, in the western suburbs of Philadelphia. After studying in New York, the young man remained very attached to the city of his childhood and when the time came to embrace a career in directing, it was quite naturally in Philadelphia that he set up his cameras. The Sixth Sense, like his first two features, is set in the city of brotherly love. Only one scene is shot at Gerri’s Palm Tavern on Grand Boulevard in Chicago.
All the important places of The Sixth Sense are located in Philadelphia, namely the house of the young Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment), the church, and of course the house of Malcolm Crowe, the character played on screen by Bruce Willis. As is often the case, only the façade is exploited. In red brick, the latter perfectly expresses the tone of the film and allows it to be definitively anchored in the city where the Declaration of Independence was once signed.
Soon after its release, The Sixth Sense became an instant classic. Positioned at number 60 in the American Film Institute’s Top 100 Thrillers, it is subsequently regularly referenced in other films and series. The director, for his part, has continued as long as possible to make his city the backdrop for his productions.
The Sixth Sense scored 85% positive reviews on the Rotten Tomatoes aggregator.
2006 Delancey Pl
Beautiful semi-detached house, the 2006 Delancey Place has been estimated at 3,525,000 dollars. It stands out thanks to its architectural style typical of the historic center of the city of brotherly love.
With five bedrooms and six bathrooms, this three-story home does not go unnoticed thanks to its beautiful front door. A few blocks from Rittenhouse Square, north of Lombard Street, it’s a good distance from Philadelphia City Hall, in one of the city’s most desirable neighborhoods. Built in 1814, it is currently inhabited and is not available for rent or sale.
