House of Lords
As is often the case when they write together, Paul McCartney and John Lennon work on A Day in The Life using melodies or lyrics that they each concocted on their own. John Lennon bases himself partly on two articles from the Daily Mail while Paul McCartney uses a piano piece he has been working on for some time. The whole part in which Paul McCartney talks about a man taking the bus is inspired by his memories.
A masterpiece
If A Day in The Life comes from the collaboration of John Lennon and Paul McCartney, it is well to this last one that it owes its so particular patina. A song where several places are mentioned such as the House of Lords and the Royal Albert Hall. The fact that the group chose to involve 40 classical musicians adds a certain grandeur to the whole.
Paul is alive
A Day in The Life is one of the most analyzed and dissected Beatles songs. The part written from Daily Mail articles in particular, about a car accident, has long fueled the persistent rumor that Paul McCartney was dead and had been replaced in the early days of Beatlemania by a particularly convincing look-alike. Years later, A Day in The Life may not have revealed all its secrets. But this is also why it has lost none of its power of attraction.
A Day in The Life consists in the assembly of two pieces respectively signed Paul McCartney and John Lennon.
House of Lords
The House of Lords is the upper house of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1801 and still exists today.
Although its power is now less than that of the House of Commons, the role of the House of Lords is to examine and possibly modify bills. Members can also challenge the UK government on various issues. The House of Lords is located in the Palace of Westminster, in the city center of the English capital. It also remains famous for its extremely rich library.
