House of Juliet and Peter
Love in Notting Hill
At St Luke’s Mews in Notting Hill, the production chooses a charming pink house to film one of the most important sequences of the film: Mark (Andrew Lincoln) goes to the home of Juliet (Keira Knightley), the wife of his best friend, with whom he is madly in love.
A cult scene
As the young woman opens the door, he presents a series of signs to express his feelings, insisting that he expects nothing in return. One idea replaced another. The original plan was for Mark to line the street with hundreds of roses.
When Love Actually was released in theaters, this sequence instantly became one of the most popular. Soon, many fans were flocking to St Luke’s Mews to replicate it, and the building was a hit on Instagram. And while the owners have pointed out the overzealous nature of some of their visitors, they have never thought of repainting their home.
The film has only received only one award : the BAFTA for best supporting for Bill Nighy, the interpreter of the of the fallen rock star, Billy Mack.
27 St Lukes Mews
This small terraced house was the center of one of the most famous declarations of love in British cinema. A landmark address in the Notting Hill neighborhood where love still floats in the air.
Very popular in London, the mews, these former stables converted into houses, are charming enclaves where time seems to pass more slowly. In St Lukes Mews in particular, where a famous pink house, engraved in pop culture, still holds a certain fascination for the most romantic moviegoers.
