“You know why I like working with you? Because you’re a headcase.”

Romain Lucas (Anthony Delon)

Raised in foster care, Romain Lucas (Anthony Delon) became a gyneco-obstetrician and child surgeon. He works in a large Parisian hospital, but is a real rebel, working only on instinct.

If the exterior views of the hospital are indeed those of a Parisian establishment, that of Tenon in the 20th arrondissement, all the interior scenes were made in an old hospital in Cognac. Closed for several years, the production has invested the premises to build very realistic sets.

With 2,400m² of floor space, the teams were able to recreate the maternity ward, give the old chapel a makeover and make the emergency room their own. “We chose to shoot in a setting created to be a medical place. This generates an atmosphere”, confided Isabelle Degeorges, producer at Gaumont Télévisions to Sud Ouest.

This setting also allowed the actors to slip more easily into the skin of their characters.

When the series was cancelled, the old hospital did not stop living. The community of communes of Greater Cognac has taken advantage of this opportunity to invest in the premises and establish its offices in this former institution. The building has thus found its third way, a true renaissance.
