” -… In the meantime, we’ll be whining about when we’ll get paid for our pretty hospital paintings…

– Tell me about it.”

Alain and Fabrice, excerpt from Volume 2 of Fabrice Neaud’s Journal

Alain picks up Fabrice Neaud to go to the hospital in Angoulême. In this establishment, the two artists imagined paintings to brighten the patients’ stay. They are on their way to the accounting department to get paid for their services. They discover that in order to be paid, they have to be registered in the commercial register. This is not the case for either of them. They are disillusioned by this situation. They are not going to get paid. Already their situations are not brilliant, this will not help them to get out of their financial slump.

In Journal, Alph-Art coup de coeur at Angoulême in 1997, Fabrice Neaud hides nothing of his life. He shows without blushing his difficulties to find work in illustration, his financial difficulties but also his emotional lacks. The men are not tender with him. Thus in this volume 2, Stéphane rejected it and this order for the hospital of Angoulême risks to remain without remuneration. This hospital is located in the district of Girac, hence its name written on the front in the comic book author’s box. It was founded in 1936 and today has many annex buildings for the benefit of patients.

1994

It was in 1994 that Fabrice Neaud, Xavier Mussat and Loïc Néhou founded Ego comme X. They are closed since 2017.
