High School
If Netflix has, since its creation, multiplied the shootings in Canada, even going so far as to create a gigantic production complex in the Vancouver area, Metal Lords was indeed filmed in Portland in the American state of Oregon. A favorable region due to advantageous financial conditions, which the director Peter Sollett exploited.
Rather than shooting in a studio, the production team wanted to film the high school scenes in an actual school, in this case Parkrose High School. A few shots were also shot next door, in the Parkrose Middle School. All this to give the images a resolutely authentic character.
Co-produced by Tom Morello, the guitarist of Rage Against The Machine, Metal Lords gave him the opportunity to compose an unreleased track. A pure metal song, quite far from the universe of his combo, sounding more like Metallica. Tom Morello is also a big fan of classic heavy metal. It is thanks to him that Metal Lords can count on three guests of choice, namely Scott Ian, the guitarist and leader of Anthrax, Kirk Hammett, the solo guitarist of Metallica and Rob Halford, the historical singer of Judas Priest. Joe Manganiello is also a big fan of this music.
Metal Lords is the first movie in which the famous writer and novelist Chuck Klosterman appears.1
Parkrose High School
This school complex includes a middle school and a high school. Of modest size, it accommodates about 1000 students.
With its modern architecture, this high school does not go unnoticed. Opened in 1913, the school’s alumni include college basketball player Isaac Bonton, musician Michael Allen Harrison, astronaut Susan Helms, saxophonist Jim Pepper and Larry Harvey, founder of the Burning Man festival. Its emblem represents a horse. It is located not far from the banks of the Columbia River.
