Herd of dinosaurs in the snow
Colin Trevorrow, the director of Jurassic World Dominion, films Chris Pratt in the vicinity of Ashcroft during the winter, when snow has generously sprinkled the desert. A herd of dinosaurs is added in post-production by the teams of Industrial Light & Magic for a bluffing rendering in more than one way.
In the script, the scene is supposed to take place near the house of Owen Grady, the character played by Chris Pratt. In fact, the house was built by the production in Surrey, England, about a 40-minute drive from Pinewood Studios, the heart of the Jurassic World Dominion production.
Heavily impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, the production of Jurassic World Dominion has required some adjustments from Colin Trevorrow. He took advantage of the lockdown to work on the post-production from his home in England.
He also took advantage of this imposed isolation to rework certain aspects of the feature film, constantly in contact with the members of his team, and notably decided to cut the long prologue, which was later put online as part of the film’s promotion. A prologue presenting for the first time in the saga the dinosaurs at the time when they ruled the earth.
Jurassic World Dominion is the only film in the Jurassic Park saga that did not benefit from the expertise of paleontologist Jack Horner. He was replaced here by Steve Brusatte.
Ashcroft
A small village in British Columbia, Ashcroft is located in a wild region and offers breathtaking landscapes, summer and winter alike.
Founded around Ashcroft Ranch in the 1860s during the Cariboo Gold Rush, this village has also played a role in Canadian railway history by becoming an essential stopover for mining supply trains. The surroundings, desert, are regularly exploited in the context of film shoots.
