Green garden
Co-founder of Ego comme X with Loïc Néhou, Fabrice Neaud was encouraged by the latter to tell his life story in comics. He then decides to realize slices of life in Journal running from February 1992 to September 1993. This first opus is published in 1996 in their publishing house.
Immediately, the public and the critics unanimously greeted this introspective work, which he presented in Angoulême. The author of Nu-men lived in the city of Valois. Readers discover him with his Loïc Néhou working on a Way of the Cross for a church in the city. Fabrice Neaud talks unvarnished about his career, his creative anguish, unemployment, but also his one-night stands. If he falls in love with Stéphane, the reciprocity is far from being obvious. In the meantime, the artist spawns with men in shots taking place in the municipal garden above the avenue de Cognac and whose entrance is almost opposite the cinema of the cité de la bande dessinée.
Now redeveloped, the Green Garden in Angoulême has waterfalls, fountains, sculptures and a green theater.
The first volume of Fabrice Neaud’s Diary won the Alph-Art Coup de coeur at the Angoulême Festival in 1997.
Built in the 19th century
Built in the 19th century, the Jardin vert is a place of relaxation in the centre of Angoulême.
Abandoned during the First World War, the green garden was renovated in the 1920s and 1930s, notably with the addition of a nature theatre. It was used for cultural events in the town.
Animals were introduced in the 1960s. It also contains sculptures, fountains and children’s playgrounds.
