– The squirrel, do you see it?

– Oh yes! It is too beautiful!

– Damn, it’s about time!

– Hey…

– Nah, just kidding

Naomie Vogt-Roby and Maxime Bachellerie

In the middle of summer, two teenagers meet in the park of the Golden Triangle in the district of Trois Cités in Poitiers. The characters played by Naomie Vogt-Roby and Maxime Bachellerie have no first name. They are therefore not designated. But this is not an obstacle to understanding the plot. The most important thing for Damien Manivel was the meeting between these two beings discovering love.

Thus, this very wooded park with oaks, walnut trees and other sequoias is a beautiful setting for the discovery of the first emotions and bodies of this young couple. With its fitness trail, its playgrounds and its large lawns, this place is very popular with the inhabitants of this nice popular district of the capital of the Vienne.

Damien Manivel didn’t look for long to choose the two actors for this one hour and ten minute film. Maxime, a student from Poitiers, was spotted leaving a hairdressing salon. As for Naomie, she was casted because she was a circus acrobat.

Two weeks before the shooting of his film, the director still had no script. As he explained to Jacques Morice, journalist at Télérama: “Once in the park, I start with the scouting. I know then that the film will start on such and such a bench, I know that halfway through we’ll go to such and such a place in the park, at another moment we’ll film the hillock, that it will end in the undergrowth. The story comes at the last moment. This may seem like a very strange way to do it, but I like it. Once the journey of the characters is organized, the dialogues come from day to day, without any written trace. I explain the scenes to the actors, I tell them briefly what they have to say, they improvise around that and I film them. It is like a rehearsal in the theater.“Moreover, other places in Poitiers will be used as settings for the budding romance of the two teenagers, including the Parc de Blossac.

Le Parc was spotted by the critics. It was nominated in the ACID selection of the Cannes Film Festival. Maxime Bachellerie received, as for him, the prize for male interpretation at the Amiens International Film Festival in 2016.

Parc du Triangle d'Or

The Golden Triangle Park is located in the Trois Cités district of Poitiers in the Vienne department. It is wooded and also has lawns and playgrounds.

Not yet developed, the park hosted a neighbourhood party in 1983. It was named by the district of Poitiers because of the price it cost to build.

It was only in June 1985 that it was inaugurated by Jacques Santrot, the Mayor of the city.

It covers five hectares and includes playgrounds for children, a fitness trail, trees and large lawns.

After consultation with the residents, it will be redeveloped in 2022.
