George Harrison's childhood home

Music I Me Mine The Beatles (1970)
I Me Mine is one of George Harrison's most personal songs and also one of the few that he managed to impose on the duo composed of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. George Harrison whose philosophical research began within the walls of a small house in Liverpool.
Maison d'enfance de George Harrison
This is where George was born and lived until he was 7, 12 Arnold Grove. A normal family lives there now. :)

“All throught the day, I me mine, I me mine, I me mine.”

The Beatles

The last child of Harold Hargreaves Harrison and his wife Louise, George Harrison was born at 12 Arnold Grove in 1943, at a time when England was paying a heavy price for its involvement in World War II. Forced to endure not very difficult living conditions, due to the bombings but also the cold, the Harrisons nevertheless end up moving when George is only 6 years old.

A deceptively discreet Beatle

Never forgetting his humble origins, George Harrison rose by the sheer force of his music. If at the beginning of the Beatles, he is especially appreciated for his talent on the guitar, he ends up imposing his voice and regularly proposes songs to his comrades. While the band is filmed for the Get Back project, he submits the song I Me Mine for approval by Paul McCartney and John Lennon, in which he opens up and emotionally discusses the concept of self-centeredness.

Last lap

Inspired by a melody played by an Austrian brass band, I Me Mine is recorded only one year later, for the needs of the album Let It Be, produced by Phil Spector. It was remixed to its original patina many years after the Beatles disbanded, on the initiative of Paul McCartney, as part of the Let It Be Naked project. Paul McCartney’s goal was to erase all the contributions of Phil Spector.

A modest monument

George Harrison’s house is part of Liverpool’s historical and cultural heritage, along with the homes of the other three Beatles. Not open to the public, it still bears witness to the modest origins of a true rock and roll genius.

1

I Me Mine is the only song released on a Beatles album recorded after John Lennon’s final departure in January 1970.

12 Arnold Grove

This house with red walls was the birthplace of George Harrison. Here where he lived for six years before moving.

The Harrison family moved into this modest terraced house in 1931. It was between these walls that Louise, Harry, Peter and George were born between 1931 and 1943. It only had two rooms on the ground floor and two rooms upstairs. the floor. Very badly heated, it also has a small garden at the time equipped with a chicken coop. Today considered a historical monument, this house has hardly changed since the birth of the famous Beatle.
