“- That’s what you dream about? Being a monster?
– I dream about being with you forever.”

Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart)

The fantasy and romantic saga Twilight was an immediate success in Europe, inspired in particular by the literary classic Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

Two high schools for Forks High School

Kalama High School in Washington, D.C. was used for the outdoor scenes at the fictional Forks High School while James Madison High School, now Leodis V. McDaniel High School, was used for the indoor scenes.

The first meeting between Bella and Edward takes place in the cafeteria of Madison High School in the first film. Many other scenes are shot indoors like the biology classes where Edward and Bella are next to each other; in the infirmary or in the gym of Forks High School.

Vampires better than wizards

In 2009, the series won the Kids’ Choice Awards for Best Book beating Harry Potter, which proves that these books appealed to a lot of people like the movies.

Leodis V. McDaniel High School

Originally, Leodis V. McDaniel High School was named James Madison High School after the fourth president of the United States.

Because of James Madison’s history of supporting slavery, the school administration decided to change the name of the school.

Leodis V. McDaniel, the school’s highly respected former principal, had his name placed on the front of the institution.
