In Pig, Nicolas Cage plays a former top chef, retired from the world of gastronomy. He now lives in the woods with his pet pig, with whom he searches for truffles. When his four-legged friend is kidnapped, Rob is forced to return to the city to search for him and must face his past. It was then that he returned to the Eurydice, the restaurant he used to run. Sitting at the table, he meets his replacement.
One of the reasons Nicolas Cage agreed to star in Pig, and also to finance part of it, is that he has always been passionate about cooking. It is therefore with a tenfold exaltation that he built the character of this former chief bruised by life.
To shoot this famous sequence, director Michael Sarnoski did not want to set up in a studio but to film in real conditions. While scouting, his attention was drawn to Saucebox, an Asian restaurant in downtown Portland. Luckily, this one has a vacant room that the director’s teams transform into a gourmet restaurant. Afterwards, the filmmaker takes Nicolas to different places in Portland, always looking for the most authentic places.
Pig has garnered 97% favourable opinions on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

In the south of Old Town Chinatown, the Sauce Box proposed a refined Asian cuisine in an authentic setting…
Old Chinatown is known for its night owls and food lovers. Very lively, the district is full of clubs, bars and restaurants and offers a real change of scenery in the heart of downtown Portland. It’s also home to the famous Voodoo Doughnut store, where foodies often line up. The Lan Su Chinese Garden with its Chinese plants, the Shangahi Tunnels, amazing underpasses and the many art dealers contribute to its reputation throughout the Northwest. Like many restaurants, the Sauce Box was hit hard by the economic crisis of the Covid-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, it was forced to close.
