Daenerys Targaryen’s (Emilia Clarke) journey was shot in several locations, between Malta, Morocco and of course Northern Ireland, the nerve center of the Game of Thrones production. After filming the wedding of Princess Targaryen and the Lord of the Dothraki (Jason Momoa), the directors went to Northern Ireland to film the sequences taking place in the Dothrak Sea.
The Dothrak Sea consists of several places such as the Shillanavogy Valley and the Leslie Estate. The scouting teams tried to select isolated locations characterized by grandiose and relatively hilly landscapes. The Shillanavogy Valley and Leslie Estate fit all these criteria.

Jason Momoa made a big impression playing Khal Drogo. Rather unknown before, despite roles in Baywatch and Stargate Atlantis, the actor impressed the public and his peers with his intense performance. Since his character doesn’t speak English at all, many people thought that he didn’t master the language of Shakespeare either. It is after the shooting of season 1, the only one in which he appears, that Jason Momoa revealed himself to the world, to the great surprise of some, accessing a multitude of opportunities. Game of Thrones has allowed him to land the role of Aquaman in the DC Comics Universe.
Jason Momoa, the interpreter of Khal Drogo said that this was his greatest role.
Located at the foot of Mount Slemish, this valley is frequented by many species of birds.
Place where, according to legend, St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, kept his sheep, the valley of Shillanavogy is one of the most beautiful in the country. Perfect for hiking, it is located not far from the sea, near Ballymena, north of Belfast. Used as pasture, it alone illustrates the tranquility and beauty of this region of the world. The Shillanavogy Valley served as a filming location for the Game of Thrones series.
