“- You tell me the option.

– The what?

– The option… You pick the option with the applicable rate.

– I’m just one person. Don’t matter the size of the bed.”

The hotel manager (Margaret Bowman) and Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin)

Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) has just discovered by chance a briefcase containing two million dollars among the corpses of a drug gang. He then decides to keep it. He goes to the Regal Motel in Del Rio to reserve a room. The man then hides the briefcase in the air vent of the hotel.

While grabbing the money, Llewelyn finds himself pursued by Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem), a fearsome psychopathic hitman.

Suspecting that he is wanted, Llewelyn decides to book another adjacent room to retrieve the briefcase from the air vent in this new room. At the same time, Anton finds the trail with the help of a bug hidden in the money, but when he enters the room, the killer comes across a gang of Mexicans that he executes in cold blood. Llewelyn then takes the opportunity to escape.

Following the success of No Country for Old Men, many works have referred to it, such as the video game studio Rockstar. In a random event in Grand Theft Auto V, the player finds dead bodies of drug dealers with a briefcase containing $25,000. If the player gets the money back, he will be chased by killers soon after. A nice wink.

It is in room number 138 that Llewelyn hides the briefcase, before Anton coldly kills the Mexican gang.
