Researchers in parapsychology, studying both telepathy and ghostly manifestations, Peter Venkman, Raymond Stantz and Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) work at Columbia University.
After meeting their first ghost at the New York Public Library, the trio returns to their lab to find the dean (Jordan Charney) emptying their stuff and sending it back.
It is on the forecourt of the university that Peter and Ray have an idea, to found the company Ghostbusters.
A discussion taking place near the Alma Mater, the statue of the goddess Minerva, enthroned in front of the steps of the Low Library, also cited by Ray.
The original trailer reveals the phone number of the ghostbusters, 1-800-555-2368. In calling him, the audience was surprised to hear a recorded message from Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd. 1,000 calls were made every day, 24 hours a day for six weeks before the line was closed.
