Although the Vaillant team is undermined by the challenge of the “Carré d’As” pilots, Michel, his father and his brother attend the festivities at the Angoulême town hall, which bring together a great number of people.
Among the guests is a certain Henri Pescarolo, Jean-Pierre Beltoise or Albert Uderzo. The cartoonist famous for the series Asterix and Obelix or The Adventures of Tanguy and Laverdure was a regular at the Circuit des Remparts competition. He competed regularly and Jean Graton even made him compete against the terrible Vaillante team, even supplanting Steve Warson.
In the album, Albert Uderzo competes with his real car, a Ferrari 365 P2.
Angoulême Town Hall
The Angoulême town hall is a building constructed between 1858 and 1869 in the heart of the upper town of Angoulême.
Built in place of an old castle, the city hall of Angoulême is an impressive building composed of medieval and modern elements.
The Lusignan keep is the only remnant of the castle dating from the 13th century. The building is also composed of the Valois tower, erected in the 15th century, and a belfry integrated in the 19th century.
