Chapel of the Capuchin Seminary
The priest Fromenger (Jean-Luc Bideau), director of the Capuchin seminary, welcomes young men who wish to devote themselves body and soul to God. It was then that four of them, with different backgrounds and motivations, decided to enter this establishment to become priests.
Although the seminary is located in Paris in the series, the teams used the chapel of the Notre-Dame-de-Cougnes church in La Rochelle to represent the chapel of the Capuchin seminary. Nevertheless, its entrance is that of the Bruant liberal hotel in Paris.
The origin of the project dates back to 2011. Arte is looking for new series to launch on its channel dealing with social issues. Among these series was launched Ministères, which later became Ainsi soient-ils.
Ainsi soient-ils was twice awarded the prize for best French series at the Séries Mania in 2012 and 2014.
Eglise Notre-Dame-de-Cougnes
The church Notre-Dame-de-Cougnes is a parish church located in the city of La Rochelle in the department of Charente-Maritime.
The church of Notre-Dame-de-Cougnes was founded in 1077 in the town of Cougnes, ancestor of the town of La Rochelle.
Almost completely destroyed in 1568, it was rebuilt in 1653. A few rare traces of the old church are still visible, notably a part of the south wall.
A large sixteen-foot romantic organ with 26 stops was built in 1850 within the church. It allows the church to host regular concerts and organ recitals.
