Brimborn steel mill

TV show Stranger Things Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer (2016)
Trapped in the real world after being ejected from the body of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp), the Mind Flayer remains in the Brimhorn steel mill. This is where he makes his nightmare creatures by infecting rats and where he possesses Billy Hargrove (Dacre Montgomery).

“Who’s there? Hey! I said, who’s there?”

Billy Hargrove (Dacre Montgomery)

The former Brimborn steel mill is a key location in the Stranger Things series, as it is home to the terrifying Mind Flayer. A place where the fate of Billy Hargrove (Dacre Montgomery) changes dramatically when he becomes possessed by the monster and then meets an untimely end.

The Duffer brothers and their filmmakers take over this old factory. Abandoned, the place is perfect to encourage the birth of a prevalent anxiety. If the facade is exploited, so is the interior.

Just like the Demogorgon, the Mind Flayer comes from the Dungeons & Dragons bestiary. Described in this one as a humanoid creature of normal size, with a purple and hairless skin, equipped with tentacles and a disproportionate head, the monster possesses the power to break the will of its opponents. In reality, there is not just one Mind Flayer but several.

If it is repeatedly mentioned in the story of Stranger Things, the board game Dungeons & Dragons has also been adapted several times to the cinema, without meeting much success. Several versions of the game have also been launched since the 1980s. Stranger Things , on the other hand, has been able to exploit it brilliantly. The references are thus numerous. In addition to the Mind Flayer and the Demogorgon, the series sees its heroes meeting in the modern equivalent of a tavern, just like in the game. The group also has one member with powers, a wizard. It is to Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) that this role belongs. Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) is the bard while Will (Noah Schnapp) is the sage.

The first three seasons of Stranger Things include ten references to the game Dungeons & Dragons.

Brimborn Steel Works

This former steelworks is now closed to the public. It is mainly known for having housed the lair of the Mind Flayer in the Stranger Things series.

Located in East Point, very close to the John D. Milner Athletic Complex, this industrial wasteland is not far from the city center. Overgrown with brush, it appears in the credits of the series Stranger Things but is not open to the public. No activity has been carried out there for many years and the site, awaiting conversion, is abandoned.
