Bookstore
Wishing to shoot in Charente-Maritime in order to take advantage of a beautiful light and a milder climate, the team of Amitiés sincères did not wish to rent a real bookshop, preferring to create one from a vacant commercial space. Supposed to be located in Paris, the store was born in the rue Amelot, in La Rochelle, with the complicity of the bookshop Les Saisons. The latter having contributed to gather the useful works to shape a credible decor.
The bookstore is the central location of the plot of Amitiés sincères and it comes up several times. The scene of dinners and lunches for the group of friends, it also became the campaign office of Jacques Boretty (Wladimir Yordanoff) when he decided to run for mayor of his district. A place not to be missed that the directors have brilliantly succeeded in “integrating” into a purely Parisian setting, when in reality it is located several hundred kilometers from the capital.
Amitiés sincères accumulated 56,000 admissions on its first day of release, surpassing its main competitor, Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln.
10 Rue Amelot
Rue Amelot is one of the most beautiful and picturesque streets in La Rochelle. An artery surrounded by shops, where it is good to stroll.
North of the Maubec quay, not far from the New World museum, the Bunker or La Porte Maubec, the rue Amelot tells a fascinating story to its visitors from all over the world. Although it does not include any historical monuments or notable sites, its location, which is central to say the least, makes it a must-see during any visit to the city and its wonders.
