Back in 1955, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) had to meet Biff Tannen to steal the sports almanac.
The young hero had bought it earlier in 2015 to earn money through sports betting, once he returned in 1985. But when he found out, Doc (Christopher Lloyd) lectured him and threw the diary in a trash can. Except that old Biff Tannen has heard everything and takes this idea on his own, in order to go back in time and make his young rich, thus becoming the tyrant we know in the alternative 1985.
So Marty is camping in front of this house belonging to an old lady, Biff’s grandmother. Later, old Biff and his 1955 version return, with Marty hiding in the car. This is where old Biff gives the almanac of sports that Marty will try, by all means, to steal.
The place was familiar to Michael J. Fox. Besides the fact that Lorraine’s house is a few steps away, the actor had already come to the neighborhood for the filming of Teen Wolf. In his autobiography, Marty’s interpreter explains that Spielberg’s team was scouting the neighborhood and that the film was due to be shot in late October.
“Back of the Future or something like that,”the assistant director later told him. When Michael J. Fox asked who was taking part in the film, the man replied, “Nobody I know except Crispin Glover.”
Globally, the second installment grossed $331 million.
