Beach
The Lost City is mostly located in the Dominican Republic, and has used several sites on the island to reduce costs and take advantage of its wonderful natural scenery. The beach of Las Terrenas, one of the most beautiful in the region, has hosted several scenes including the first, very funny, in which Alan Caprison (Channing Tatum) makes his photo shoot for the cover of the latest novel of Loretta Sage (Sandra Bullock)
Based on a story largely reminiscent of Robert Zemeckis’ classic The Romancing the Stone, starring Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas, The Lost City intends to revive the codes of the Hollywood adventure. A filiation assumed by the writers and the two directors Adam and Aaron Nee. The proof? Brad Pitt’s character, named Jack Trainer, refers to both Jack Colton, the hero played by Michael Douglas and Mary Ellen Trainor, Robert Zemeckis’ wife. The latter had a small role in Romancing the Stone. The producers having wished especially to pay tribute to the latter, who died in 2015.
In another register, the character played by Daniel Radcliffe is reminiscent of the one he played in Now You See Me 2. The ex-Harry Potter plays an eccentric billionaire in both films.
The Lost Citygrossed $128.1 million in its first weeks of release.
Las Terrenas
A renowned seaside resort on the Samaná peninsula, La Terrenas is home to one of the most beautiful beaches in the Dominican Republic.
In the northeast of the island, Las Terrenas is popular for its beaches but also for its many underwater caverns such as the Dudu cave. The seaside offers several restaurants and other bars and is therefore very friendly. Populated by almost 19,000 inhabitants, Las Terrenas includes remote and quiet sites. Tourism, like fishing, contributes greatly to the economy of the town. The surrounding hills alone, very popular with walkers and budding explorers, are full of sites of astounding beauty.
