“I’ve been gone a long time, but I’m still in good shape. I still have some under my belt.“
Damian Anderson (Jonathan Majors)
Michael B. Jordan set up his headquarters in Atlanta, but since the story of Creed 3 takes place in Los Angeles, he also had to shoot several shots there. He chose Muscle Beach in Venice to film most of the training of Damian Anderson, the character played by Jonathan Majors.
XXL training
Very sharp on screen, Jonathan Majors has himself undergone a very demanding training to play Damian Anderson, the main antagonist of Creed 3. A program that allowed him to gain five kilos of muscle, with a percentage of fat mass maintained below 10%. The actor said during his training that he “Eat a lot, pray a lot, sweat a lot, lift a lot, stretch a lot, sleep a lot..”
In the ring
Muscle Beach plays a discreet but important role in Creed 3. A way for Michael B. Jordan to anchor his story in the palpable environment of a very identifiable city, even though the majority of the scenes were shot in Georgia. Jonathan Majors joins the legend of this iconic place in the bodybuilding world.
Creed 3 is the ninth film in the Rocky franchise, initiated in 1976 by Sylvester Stallone.
Muscle Beach Venice Gym
Located on Venice Beach in Los Angeles, this open-air gym is one of the most famous in the world.
Opened in 1934 by the Works Progress Administration, Muscle Beach has encouraged famous athletes to supply several machines like Joe Gold and Vic Tanny. The arrival in Los Angeles of Arnold Schwarzenegger at the end of the 1960s conferred on Muscle Beach a celebrity of its own. Over the years, Muscle Beach has become a go-to workout spot for celebrities and bodybuilding enthusiasts. The site appears in many films and series.
