The whole first part of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom required very complicated logistics. The filmmaker Juan Antonio Bayona, for the first time at the helm of such a big blockbuster, has to work from several locations scattered on the Hawaiian archipelago. While the main action takes place at Kualoa Ranch, the team also looks for places never seen in the saga, such as Halona Blowhole, a beautiful beach nestled in a cove. To retranscribe the ambient chaos, Juan Antonio Bayona adds smoke and inserts in post-production geysers of lava all around the cove of Halona Blowhole.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom organizes the return of several dinosaurs neglected by the saga since Jurassic Park 3, like the compsognathus and the brachiosaurus. Other species also make their entrance, such as sinoceratops, stygimoloch, allosaurus, baryonyx and carnotaur. Not to mention the indoraptor, a new hybrid. On the casting side, if Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard have gladly resumed their roles, Jeff Goldblum, one of the main actors of the first Jurassic Park, has agreed to make a brief appearance, preparing his real return for the next installment, Jurassic World: Dominion. Juan Anotnio Bayano was also able to reunite with Geraldine Chaplin, the daughter of the legendary Charlie Chaplin, whom he had already directed in El Orfanato, The Impossible and A Monster Calls.
Jeff Goldblum, the interpreter of Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park, makes his comeback in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. However, its presence on the screen is less than two minutes.
Halona Blow Hole
A magnificent rock formation forming a stunning cove off Hanauma Bay, Halona Blowhole is one of the unsung gems of the Hawaiian archipelago.
Halona Blowhole takes its name from the geysers that high tide creates when water squeezes through rock cavities and comes out in powerful jets near the shore. Formed thousands of years ago when Oahu’s volcanoes were still active, the site was shaped by lava from the Koko Crater. Quickly noticed by film studios, the place has been exploited for the filming of films such as From here to Eternity, 50 First Dates and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
