“- Hey you?

– Who you?

– No, no. You’re you. I’m me.”

Hutch (David Soul) and Starsky (Paul Michael Glaser)

In front of the San Pedro Municipal Building, visitors expect to hear the screeching of tires from a dapper red Ford Gran Torino. On board are the two big-hearted and intrepid detectives, David Starsky (Paul Michael Glaser) and Ken Hutchinson (David Soul). In the famous series, the building lends its features to the 9th Precinct of Bay City, the police station of the two vigilantes. The first season used the façade of the Long Beach police station, but due to the fame of the show, the decision was made by the producers, with some support from the authorities, to relocate the shooting in front of the San Pedro Municipal Building. A way to exploit the view of the Los Angeles bay.

If David Starsky is in love with his Ford Gran Torino, it was a different story for the actor. “I hated this car: it was big, heavy, cumbersome; in the curves, Hutch fell on me,” confessed the actor in 2004 on the occasion of the release of the film carried by Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson. Whenever Paul Michael Glaser had the chance, he kicked the gleaming machine .

1 000

Due to the success of the of the series, Ford produced 1,000 special edition Gran Torino Starsky and Hutch in 1976.

Starsky & Hutch's Ford Gran Torino

The Ford Gran Torino is an institution in itself. When it is associated with a series as unlikely but unique as Starsky & Hutch, how can you resist? It’s hard to slip on the hood of this one, but in a showcase, it’ll be something.
