Bar Les Arcades de Simone
Although it is not strictly speaking a romantic comedy, the film Aurore nevertheless contains romance. The main character, Aurore (Agnès Jaoui) falls under the spell of Christophe (Thibault de Montalembert), an old acquaintance. Their meeting at the bar Les Arcades was the first of many.
Refusing to shoot in a studio, director Blandine Lenoir used real locations as much as possible, such as the restaurant Prao, where the main character works, but also the bar Les Arcades. This is a way to give maximum authenticity to his film, intended as a bittersweet chronicle with which it is easy to identify.
A film called Aurore was already released in 2006. Directed by Nils Tavernier, it has nothing in common with Blandine Lenoir’s film, except for its title.
Les Arcades
Located as its name suggests under the magnificent arcades, near the Museum of Natural History, this bar is particularly popular with tourists.
One of the most emblematic brasseries in downtown La Rochelle, Les Arcades de Simone has a beautiful authenticity, both in its decoration and in its dishes. A friendly, family-run establishment, ideal for a break between two visits or simply to appreciate the hospitality of this city with its rich history.
