Fabrice and his friend Pascal are sitting in the François Ier, a bar and brasserie on the Place Louvel in Angoulême. This discussion, the comic book author, spreads it out over a full 19 page chapter. Without text, it is only in poetic evocation. Sometimes, in the bubbles, the dialogues are replaced by drawings. Fabrice feels good with Pascal, he lets go.
In his autobiographical series entitled Journal, the author of Nu-men reveals himself. He addresses all the subjects of his life, without hiding the more delicate ones like his professional career, his financial difficulties or his emotional life. Without naming it, the city of Angoulême is the theater of his existence. Thus, the readers see him in the hospital of Girac or in the Green Garden. The François I, he has his habits. This bar is located on a square not far from the city hall, the conservatory and the museum. It is home to other friendly places like restaurants, bars but also the court.
The Delcourt publishing house has decided to publish again the first four volumes of Journal, which could only be found second hand because the publishing house Ego comme X, co-created by Fabrice Neaud, Xavier Mussat and Loïc Néhou, no longer exists. Thus this major work in the autobiographical genre will be able to find a new audience. The author is already at work on a sequel entitled The Last Sergeant. In all, Esthétique des brutes, the sur-title of the set, will include eight albums.
The sequel to the Journal, entitled Le dernier sergent, will consist of 4 volumes.
